She will be loved (Maroon 5) - Opening, verse and pre chorus

In today's practice, we began work on our group piece which we decided would be She will be loved by Maroon 5; when it came to learning this on guitar, I couldn't find any decent tabs or YouTube tutorials for it, so I decided to try and watch James Valentine (guitars of M5) play it live, but even then he plays it differently to the original (this was extremely annoying because I just didn't really know where to start), so I decided to work with what I had, and just kind of make my own version up that does actually sound at least a little bit like the original track. I have to finger pick in this, and finger picking is definitely something I'm not very confident in so this will be challenge for me; In this riff in particular there are a lot of finger position changes and are quite quick changes too, and then doing this alongside the finger picking is just very hard - another problem I find is when I finger pick, it sound very staccato and I personally don't like the sound of it and it doesn't really match the original recording so I definitely need to work on this. Apart from that, I can paly the riff in time, and continuously.
When we played it together, I feel it went very well - we all kept in time and the levels were good and we all knew it very well. To improve on this part, we could look at the specific tempo or the original track and try to match that and keep it consistent throughout.
